LCT FUTURE PROJECTS: 2026-2029

1).  KOEC – HEALTHCARE and training centre 2027-29

HEATHCARE and Training Centre, KOEC has started a project to build a health centre for community outreach with 10 rooms.  It has been projected this project will absorb at least 50 students around September 2027 subject to completion. 

2). Scholarships 2026-2029: community centre building and supporting access to vocational and tertiary education

We have received applications for scholarships and bursaries for 50 students upon completion of the training centre.  LCT proposes to raise scholarships to fund eligible 16-21 years olds from economic and socially disadvantaged background to gain qualifications at vocational levels, using a ratio of (60:40% for girls and boys).

3). Youth leadership and entrepreneurial skills (training, income generation and duplication)

  • Participants will receive training at salons or with hair dressing, tailoring including how to manage budget and how to use accounting software for cash flows. 
  • Apprentices will earn income (and will continue to learn) and mentor new participants and work in threes (i.e., with chairs and kits). 

4). Cocoa and Agro-framing. 

The youth have also identified a youth led agro farming project that meets their need and others in Lango Sub-region.  A feasibility study was conducted used to target at least 30 youth (between 16-24 years) old from Lira, Akalo, Inomo and Ibuje. The youth development project approach is to plant trees and crops in order to raise income but also to combat the negative effects of cutting trees and climatic problems.  Youth led-agro farming of cocoa and other crops that will improve the livelihood of 16–24-year-olds.

The challenges identified are financial constraints!
